On August 16-17, 2025, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of Fuqiang Precision's establishment, 38 senior executives from the Fuqiang business entity gathered at Xuefeng Chongshan Zen Temple. Through a unique Zen retreat, they embarked on a profound journey of inner dialogue. Between the morning bells and evening drums, they reflected on their true selves, cleansed their minds of distractions, and reverently reviewed the two decades of dedicated efforts. With the light of wisdom, they illuminated the path forward for a new chapter.
1.Zen Journey Begins: A Reunion with Oneself
Stepping into the ancient temple that has stood for millennia, the Fuqiang team shed the glamour of corporate life and ascended the steps following the sound of temple bells. As the mountain gate gently opened, they bowed in reverence to heaven and earth; in the quiet contemplation of the Buddhist courtyard, moss-covered ancient trees reflected their original aspirations. Guided by Master Chuanhe’s staff, they embarked on a four-hour walking meditation through mountain trails to Luohan Terrace. Each step measured their faith, and every drop of sweat deepened their awareness. As one participant remarked, “Looking down, we see rugged stone paths; looking up, we behold vast skies—a metaphor for Fuqiang’s boundless future, soaring straight into the heavens!”
2.Listening and Chanting Scriptures: Illuminating the Future with Wisdom
Under the soft glow of oil lamps and ancient scriptures, Master Chuanhe’s profound interpretation of the Diamond Sutra helped the Fuqiang team break free from worldly attachments. As soul-stirring chants echoed during the morning prayer session, blessings were offered for the company and all living beings. The participants devotedly engaged in seated meditation, followed by a ceremonial hand-washing ritual before transcribing the Heart Sutra. Master Chuanhe then delved into the concept of "Perceiving Freedom" (观自在), expounding on the Ten Virtuous Deeds of Buddhism. He elaborated on the essence of spiritual practice, the compassionate heart of a Bodhisattva, the value of selfless actions, and the wisdom of knowing when to hold on and when to let go, emphasizing the profound significance of chanting the Heart Sutra.
As the timeless words of the Heart Sutra transcended a millennium, Fuqiang’s new journey was already unfolding beneath their feet. In this moment, the essence of Zen quietly resonated with the philosophy of corporate management.
3.Monastic Meals: Every Step a Verse in Spiritual Practice
The gentle tap of the wooden fish and the aroma of vegetarian meals marked the beginning of the dining ritual. Aligning in quiet procession, the participants cradled their bowls with both hands, eyes focused ahead. No words were spoken; only the soft clinking of bowls and chopsticks echoed, accompanied by a deep reverence for every grain of rice.From the serving of the meal to the closing chant, each step was a testament to spiritual cultivation—understanding the hardship behind material sustenance and cherishing the blessings of the present moment.
4.Purifying the Heart and Returning to Truth: From Repentance to Unburdened Progress
Amidst the sweeping of courtyards, brooms danced with bodhi leaves; in the repentance ritual before the Eighty-Eight Buddhas, each bow dissolved a layer of pride. “Repentance is not an end, but a beginning of moving forward unburdened”—this embodies both the essence of Zen practice and Fuqiang’s posture as it faces the future.
5.Passing the Torch: Embarking Anew with Prajna Wisdom
Battalion Commander Lin Jingfang struck the chime as a signal, and the assembly collectively elected Chen Hao as the eighth leader. With the theme "The Long March," he unveiled the vision for the next two decades. As they descended the mountain, the 38 Fuqiang executives wore Buddhist beads carrying blessings on their wrists, their scripture booklets bearing ink traces of sudden enlightenment, and—most importantly—hearts recalibrated by the morning bells and evening drums. Though the retreat was brief, the journey of cultivation is endless; two decades of glory are but a prologue. As expressed in the closing remarks: "Fuqiang’s future is a Long March of selfless deeds and the practice of Prajna wisdom."
This Zen retreat was not merely a cultural footnote to Fuqiang's 20th anniversary, but a vivid testament to the team's cohesion. From the "relentless pursuit in the workplace"to the "simple mats in the meditation hall," from the "dust of the mundane world" to the "vast skies above," the Fuqiang team, in the name of cultivating inner peace and virtue, achieved a collective empathy for the past, an awakening to the present, and a resolute clarity for the future.
